ZachXBT has accused former professional Fortnite player Serpent of stealing $3.5 million through scams involving several high-profile account takeovers.
In a thread published on
In June 2020, Serpent was released from the esports organization “Overtime” after being suspected of cheating. Serpent was also linked to several crypto projects, namely DAPE and ERROR, which were eventually abandoned.
ZachXBT alleged that the wallet address associated with ERROR was “directly linked” to several account takeovers, including McDonald’s, Usher, Andy Ayrey, Dean Norris, and Enoshima Aquarium in Japan.
Serpent allegedly bet the stolen funds on Roobet, Stake, BC Game and Shuffle, then sharing his exploits with friends on Discord. ZachXBT reported that Serpent began deleting all posts from his new X account after the first part of his investigation was published.
The victims of the Serpent: companies and celebrities
American fast food chain McDonald’s was reportedly the first victim of Serpent’s alleged scams. On August 21, McDonald’s Instagram account was compromised and a post was made promoting the bundled meme piece GRIMACE. More than $690,000 was stolen and then bundled into two wallets.
THE investigator claims that in September, Serpent targeted celebrities Dean Norris and Usher. Norris’s X account was hacked and used to promote the play SCHRADER, a nod to his character from the popular TV show “Breaking Bad.”
A few days later, Usher’s X account was also compromised and used to push USHER. The attack involved 110 SOLs, which were transferred from the same address that received the funds from the McDonald’s breach.
ZachXBT detailed that approximately 4,868 SOL obtained through the USHER scam was transferred to a wallet that was later linked to the breaches involving the social media accounts of Enoshima Aquarium and Truth Terminal creator Andy Ayrey.
The attack on Ayrey was particularly damaging, with his X account hacked for several days. Ayrey’s account revealed six coin scams, including RNA, TRUTH, INFINITY, and WOAH, which collectively generated $2.1 million. ZachXBT reported that $750,000 of that amount was deposited to a casino address.
The detailed thread reveals that the account hacks began in August 2024, with the last incident occurring on November 3. During this final attack, Wiz Khalifa’s X profile promoted two meme piecesWIZ and WIZZLE.
