A progressive reflection group has urged the United States Ministry of Justice (DoJ) to examine the legality of the same corner Trump Trump / USD launched by President Donald Trump.
What happened: The non -profit consumer defense group, Citizenhas raised Questions on the legality of the new cryptocurrency of President Trump even Coin.
The same corner, which was launched in mid-January, just before Trump took up his duties, quickly intensified, guaranteeing his position of 41st larger digital assets by market capitalization.
In a communication with the DoJ and the government’s ethics office, the officials of the public citizen proposed that the play of meme could be in violation of federal laws which supervise donations to government officials.
They stressed that Trump’s website clearly stipulates that the parts even are not supposed to be an investment opportunity or a security of any kind, but rather a digital receipt.

They argue that this is similar to ask for money in exchange for nothing, which could be interpreted as a personal gift to the president.
The Constitution prohibits accepting anything from the actors of foreign states, and due to the nature of cryptocurrency exchanges, it is difficult to determine whether foreign entities offer the president by buying the same.
The skepticism of the public citizen is not lonely. Last month, Ethereum ETH / USD founder Vitalik Buterin denounced political parts as “vehicles for unlimited political corruption”, although it has not mentioned any specific token.
Why it matters: The concerns raised by the public citizen and others highlight the complex legal and ethical issues surrounding political cryptocurrencies.
The involvement of high -level individuals such as President Trump still complicates things, as it raises questions about the abusive potential for these personal gain or influence platforms.
The result of the DoJ’s survey could have important implications for the future of political cryptocurrencies.
