In a continuing series of X updates, Shytoshi Kusama, widely known as the lead developer of the Shiba Inu Project (SHIB), has shared important information about the upcoming launch of TREAT, the fourth and final official token of the Shiba ecosystem Inu. With SHIB: The Metaverse having opened its Early Access phase on December 25, Kusama’s recent comments suggest that TREAT is poised to become the focus of the Shiba Inu. road map early 2025.
The role of TREAT in the Shiba Inu ecosystem
On December 31, Kusama spoke to X to clarify TREAT’s features. In a document now widely distributed jobhe wrote: “What if there was a way to offer transactional rewards for engagement and access via a token? What if it served as the backbone of an operating system capable of powering a Grid State and its global adoption could solve many of the world’s problems? And yes indeed. #TO TREAT”
Kusama’s statement suggests that TREAT is not intended as just another tradable asset in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, but as a multi-faceted token designed to encourage participation, provide access to advanced features, and foster what it calls a “Network State”. While details remain partially under wraps, these remarks underscore the development team’s ambition to propel TREAT to the forefront of the Shiba Inu’s global reach.
In a job on December 27, Kusama highlighted the launch of the Shiba Inu Metaverse, then pivoted to the impending launch of the TREAT token: “So now that the Metaverse is rolling out well and those who said it wouldn’t come have once again shut up Plus, it’s time to start talking about TREAT, the future of our state, and what we’ve done in recent years to make sure we’re ahead of the pack. Stay tuned…”
Kusama’s comment suggests that development of TREAT has been underway for an extended period of time. The collective storyline now seems to be moving quickly from the expansion of the Metaverse to the beginnings of TREAT.
Further fueling the anticipation, Kusama revealed on December 30 that he planned to reveal more detailed information via a podcast, broadcast in the new Metaverse. In his words:
“My podcast will be 44 episodes, really speaking from the heart and explaining something very important… all the technology we’ve built (some of which you’ve seen), how it all relates to #Treat and how it all fits together . together (ideally) to save the world? I’m… On Monday we’ll talk about Memes on Treat and how it fits in (…) Next year is going to be epic. what we have built. LFGGGGGGGOOOO!!
Earlier this month, Kusama also confirmed TREAT’s role in diet fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) as part of a longevity research partnership with Ogai, saying: “Of course I do! And OGAI using FHE is just ONE use case of FHE. But TREAT actually has a lot more uses outside of FHE and we have a lot more pieces of technology available to it as well.
Highlighting previous discussions regarding Shiba Inu development, Kusama referenced broader trust and governance solutions within the ecosystem, tweeting in November: “Karma and reputation built into the foundational elements of the Shib’s ecosystem and advanced features powered by Treat will solve this problem once and for all. »
His comment alluded to a memecoin “rug pulling” incident by streamer Jack Doherty – an example of how many digital assets can fail without robust trust mechanisms. Kusama’s message implies that TREAT’s built-in reputation systems could mitigate these risks for members of the Shiba Inu community.
Longtime followers of the Shiba Inu symbolic landscape know that SHIB, LEASH, and BONE each serve distinct purposes. According to Kusama: “Each token has its own utility and governance, and TREAT is the access token to all advanced features of our system, unlike Leave alonewhich talks about exclusivity, or Bone, which focuses on technology.
At press time, SHIB was trading at $0.00002180.
