At the time of its launch in August 2020, SHIB was trading at around $0.0000000001, according to data from CoinMarketCap. SHIB remained around this level for the remainder of 2020 and only experienced a price breakout in May 2021, as the token reached a high of around $0.00038 on May 10, 2021, after been listed by the crypto exchange FTX.
While the token fell into the doldrums over the summer, it recovered over the fall to reach an all-time high of $0.00008845 on October 28, 2021. However, the highs did not was able to last and it closed the year at $0.000033 – more than 60% below the high reached just over two months earlier.
Cryptocurrencies fell in 2022 and SHIB was no exception. The collapse of the Terra ecosystem in May hit the market hard, and on June 18, SHIB fell to its lowest price in around eight months, when it was trading at $0.0000071.
Things ultimately continued to decline over the rest of the year and closed 2022 at $0.000008087, an annual loss of over 75%.
In 2023, the crypto market recovered, and on April 3, 2023, SHIB was worth approximately $0.00001077. In 2024, the important month for Shiba Inu was March, when the price rose from $0.00000963 to $0.00003629 in a few weeks, representing a percentage increase of 276.84%. However, the price declined again during the year reaching around $0.00001767 in October.
