Snake Tied Wallet
ZachXBT’s investigation uncovered a wire trail that further accused the former Fortnite player of crypto token scam, claiming all wallet addresses were linked to Serpent.
The online investigator mentioned that the player was “heavily exposed” to a number of Pump.fun meme coin scams that involved hacking social media accounts.
“Over the past few months, I have been following a series of compromises related to McDonald’s, Usher, Kabosu owner Andy Ayrey, Wiz Khalifa, SPX 6900, etc. on X and IG, which resulted in an estimated heist of over $3.5 million via the launch of Pump. Fun coins,” said ZachXBT.
McDonald’s account compromised
ZachXBT revealed that among the accounts compromised in the coin scams is McDonald’s Instagram.
According to the detailed report, the IG account was hacked and the scammer used it to promote the GRIMACE token. The hacker generated over $690,000 through the pump and dump strategy.
The crypto investigator recounted that the hacker transferred the funds to two main crypto wallets and that several days later, the culprit moved 101.5 SOL to two addresses before deploying the SCHRADER token.
ZachXBT discovered that the meme piece was promoted on actor Dean Norris X’s account, which was also hacked at that time.
Deleted messages
The crypto investigator revealed that the pro-Fortnite player used the fraudulent funds at online casinos, claiming that Serpent’s records showed a connection with some addresses linked to the hacked account.
ZachXBT said that after posting the first part of the investigation, Serpent suspiciously began deleting all of his posts from his new X account.
Additionally, Ginx.tv said Serpent was kicked out of esports organization “Overtime” in June 2020 because the player was accused of cheating.
Analysts said the coin scam incident is not an isolated case as the crypto market has seen numerous hacks and wallet scams this year, with celebrity accounts being hacked and promotion of crypto-related scams being the most common.
